Charlene Bryant

Charlene Bryant, age 79, of Columbus, Ohio and formerly of Delaware, Ohio died Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at home following a long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 11, 1946, to the late Edwin King and Irene Wentzel.

On April 3, 1992, she married the late Thurman Bryant in Alabama. Together they shared six years of marriage until his death.

Charlene, or Charlie as many knew her, lived in many places throughout the years, but always called Delaware, Ohio home. She was a member of Delaware Moose Lodge and Delaware Eagles #376. Charlene had worked in the past in various positions at Ranco, Inc. and Ohio Wesleyan University.

Charlene enjoyed playing games on her computer. She also loved going to “old lady luncheons” with her very special friend and neighbor, Cathy Mitchell.

Charlene, or mom to so many, was a very outgoing person. She was “mom” to all the kids in the neighborhood who chose to call her that, but for so long, she has now been lovingly known as “Granny.” Charlene never knew a stranger. Her proudest achievements were her children and having the strength to quit drinking after many years in August of 2023.

Charlene was a kind, wonderful lady who will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherry (Dwayne) Hedges and Renee Skeens (Jimmie Wilder); grandchildren, Cassandra (Michael) Lindsey, Nathan Skeens, Jessica Skeens (Mark Burr), Britttany (Wilgens) Henrys, Kim (David) Baldeser, Brandon Hedges, Jayson Keaton, and Jaelyn Keaton; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special daughters-in-law, Kristin Skeens and Cathy Cooper.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin King; mother, Irene (Clarence) Benline; husband, Thurman Bryant; sister, Judy Kelley; sons, Michael Skeens and William “Bill” Skeens; loving furbabies, Cookie and Coco.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 6:00 P.M. with calling hours prior from 4:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at New Hope Delaware, 74 Wootring Street, Delaware, Ohio 43015. Pastor Eric Sapp officiating.
