Cesar Tumbokon

It is with the deep sorrow of his passing that we are here to celebrate the life of Cesar Telan Tumbokon, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who left this world on June 18, 2025, at the age of 73. Holding hands with his beloved wife, Perpetua, Cesar passed away peacefully, surrounded by love.

Born on May 9, 1952, in the Philippines to Pedro and Ignacia Tumbokon, Cesar was the youngest of ten brothers, growing up in a close-knit family. That valued service and education.

Cesar’s journey for knowledge led him to The University of the East and Northwestern Visayan College in the Philippines. In 1978, a friend’s introduction in Manila would lead him to find his lifelong partner in Perpetua, whom he married on November 17, 1979. With the joy of their daughter Sheryl’s birth on January 14, 1980, their family began a love story that spanned continents.

In 1983, Cesar and Perpetua embarked on a new chapter, migrating to the United States, where they established a home in Chicago, Illinois. In 1984, Sheryl joyfully joined them, completing the family unit. For 34 years, Cesar was a dedicated employee at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Chicago, earning prestigious recognitions, including multiple Hyatt Spirit Awards and Exceptional Service Awards. The Hyatt is where he honed his culinary skills, that he was later known and respected for.

Cesar will always be remembered for his generous nature and the love he shared through his culinary talents. He took immense pride in supporting the education of numerous nieces and nephews, particularly those in the Philippines, ensuring a brighter future for his extended family. Celebrations were never complete without his lavish meals, with his signature dishes, crafted with love for family and friends.

Cesar was processed in death by: his parents Pedro and Ingancia, his brothers Robespierre, Edgar, Plaridel, Ramon, Hector, and Antonio. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving brothers Arturo (Teresita), Nelson (Angelina), and Moselmino (Vivian). Cesar leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness through his survivin family: his wife Perpetua Tumbokon, daughter Sheryl Tumbokon (Michael Flowers), grandchildren Shawn Tumbokon-Flowers, Samantha Tumbokon-Flowers, Ramon Alexander Guerra. His memory will also live on in the hearts of numerous nieces, nephews, and countless others who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate the remarkable life Cesar led, filled with love, generosity, and joy. His impact on those around him will be remembered for generations to come.
