Cecil Tyler

Cecil Jenkins Tyler, age 85, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025. Born on December 20, 1939, in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Cecil was a beloved son of the late Malcolm and Lucy Livingston Tyler.

Cecil was a dedicated and skilled auto mechanic who spent much of his life self-employed, serving his community with integrity and expertise. His commitment to hard work and service extended beyond his professional life; Cecil also proudly served in the Army National Guard, demonstrating a steadfast dedication to his country.

A devout member of Fruitland Baptist Church, Cecil found strength and fellowship in his faith, which was an integral part of his life. He was a cherished member of the congregation, and his presence will be deeply missed.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Alice and Lucy; and his twin brother, Jerry. He is survived by his devoted wife, Hazel Dean Tyler, who stood by his side throughout their many years together. He also leaves behind his loving daughters, Stephanie Numan of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Cecile Tyler of Rowesville, South Carolina, and Denise Johnson of Rowesville, South Carolina; as well as his stepsons, Gregory Smock of Bozeman, Montana, and Kevin Smock of Lexington, South Carolina.

Cecil was the proud grandfather of Lonnie, Nicholas, Tyler, Benjamin, Ryan, Kimberly, and Mary, and great-grandfather to Kaden, Sadie, and Angela. His legacy lives on through his family, who cherish the memories they shared with him.

A funeral service to honor Cecil’s life will be held at eleven o’clock on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Fruitland First Baptist Church with A.J. Ball officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will follow the funeral at Fruitland Baptist Cemetery.

In this time of mourning, the family finds solace in the love and support of friends and the community. Cecil Jenkins Tyler will be remembered for his kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering faith. He will be dearly missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
