Cassandra “Sandy” Louise Young Minnor, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 23,2025, at 4:18 AM, surrounded by her husband Mitch and her children.
Born December 15,1949 in Charlotte North Carolina to Joseph Ambrose and Vivian Joyce Newton Young. Sandy was the oldest of eight children in a proud military family.
Throughout her life, Sandy loved the adventure of living in various states, with Hawaii and Oceanside, California holding a special place in her heart. Sandy graduated from Oceanside High School in 1968 and was a member of the Prancers drill team.
She loved traveling to Oceanside with Mitch and Lisa’s family and to Maui to spend time with Jenny and Family. Mom loved the beach, and she loved music, we can remember mom singing in the kitchen to the Beatles and the Bee Gees while cooking the best dinners. She always said, “I just want to have fun!” Her laugh came from her heart and was recognized by many. She enjoyed life.
Sandy Married the love of her life, Mitch Minnor Jr, August 21,1982 in Oceanside California, their union was later solemnized in the Los Angeles, LDS
Temple. Sandy loved going to Church and enjoyed various callings in the Primary and Library.
A devoted homemaker, Sandy was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, we always had a special birthday dinner and at least a dozen different types of Christmas cookies. Her talents extended to sewing, embroidery and scrapbooking. She lovingly made clothing for her children and later created baby blankets, towels, and PJs, among other things for her grandkids and great grandkids.
Later in life Sandy worked at Orem Elementary School, where she formed meaningful friendships and made a lasting impact on the special needs students she worked with.
Sandy is survived her husband, Mitch Minnor, who was her devoted caretaker and best friend; her children, Melissa “Lisa” Nelson (Mike) , Jennifer Pierre (Chris), Richard Lindy Musser Jr.(Stephanie),Jerrad Minnor(Jessica) and Thomas Minnor (Jill); 18 grandchildren- Lindsey ,Raymie, Mckenzie, Seth, Patrick, Heidi, Rocky, Ethan, Summer, Milo, Elliott, Amelia, Sawyer ,Finn, Emerson, Bennett and Westin as well as four great grandkids: Skylie, Logan, Kailey and Emberlie. Sandy was preceded in Death by her parents, brothers Norman Young and baby Tommy, granddaughter Heidi Joyce and Grandson Rorick Mitchell.
Sandy’s legacy of love and devotion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. We are missing you My Love, Mom, Grandma, Tutu G-Ma and Great G-Ma… until we see you again.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 23, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1920 North 500 West, Lehi, Utah, in the Cultural Hall from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Florals and Hawaiian prints are encouraged.
