Carson City sheriff’s deputies grow beards for Rural Child Advocacy Center fundraiser

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce the 2nd annual initiative: Deputies will be allowed to grow facial hair as part of a four-month-long fundraising event benefiting the Carson City Rural Child Advocacy Center.

This community-driven effort combines fun, charity and a chance for deputies to show their lighter side, all for a great cause.

Beginning on Nov. 1, 2025, deputies across the department began participation by growing facial hair, a practice typically prohibited under department policy. This special exception is part of the department’s commitment to engaging with the community in creative ways while supporting local programs.

“We are thrilled to support another charity for children in our community. I feel that by supporting local children, non-profit organizations will allow the children in our community to benefit from our beard charity,” said CCSO Detective Tripp, who is the Carson City Deputy Sheriff’s Association President.

Deputies will voluntarily donate $150 for the four-month-long event. Both the deputies’ association and the supervisors’ association are actively participating in the event.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office sees this as an opportunity to build stronger connections with the community while making a meaningful impact on local children’s lives.
