Carson City School District announcements: Gift card drive, free sports physicals, summer athletic camps, clinics and more

  • McKinney-Vento Students in Transition Program will host a Gift Card Drive July 1 through August 15 for students in need. The program is requesting gift card donations between $20-$100 to provide for students in need for the upcoming school year. They are looking specifically for gift cards from Smith’s, Walmart, ARCO, Ross, Food Maxx, Visa Gift Cards and gift cards to any fast food chains.   • Nevada Health Centers will offer Free Sports Physicals through its mobile medical unit Tuesday, July 8. The physicals will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Carson High. Appointments are required, but they will do their best to accommodate walk-ins. Please call 775-257-7455 to make an appointment. 
  • Senators Cycling is inviting students to join their team and participate in the next season of youth co-ed Mountain Biking, July through October. Registration is open to all riding abilities and for those who will be in 5th to 12th grade this fall. The Carson High Track Team will host a Summer 2025 Pole Vault Clinic for high school and incoming high school students. The clinic will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. during the month of July, beginning July 8. No experience necessary. Come learn and practice pole vaulting, strengthen and improve your skills. Location: Carson High School Track. Requirements: Signed Pole Vault Waiver and Signed Hold Harmless Agreement.   • Carson High Football will host a one-day clinicWednesday, July 16, 2025, to help football players, ages 5-14, polish their football techniques and skills. The clinic will be held at the Carson High Football Field and will go from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration is $60 per player and includes a team shirt. Register at senatorfootball.com.
  • The Carson High Boys Soccer Team will host a Summer Tournament Fundraiser Saturday, July 19, on the CHS football field. Proceeds from the 1-day COED, futsal style 7-v-7, tournament will benefit the Boys Soccer program. First game will begin at 8:00 a.m. Registration and additional information about this event can be found on Parentsquare.
  • The Carson High School Tennis Team will host a Tennis Clinic for boys and girls, grades 3rd through 8th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday, July 21-24, 2025, at the tennis courts at Carson High. Email chsgirlstennis2025@gmail.com or see the flier on parentsquare.
  • All kids entering fourth-eighth grade are invited to attend the Carson High School Youth Running Camp, July 28 – August 1, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., at Pete Livermore Sports Complex. The program was designed by the Carson High Varsity Cross Country Team to be fun, while teaching kids about strength, endurance and stretching. The cost is $80 per runner. Scholarships are available as needed. See attached flier and register today.
  • The Nevada Department of Transportation and Visit Carson City invites Nevada schoolchildren to participate in a walk and bicycle safety art contest that will feature one winner’s art on a Carson City mural. The contest invites Nevada schoolchildren in grades Kindergarten through 12th to submit original drawings raising awareness of road safety. Winning Nevada art submissions within four separate age categories will receive prizes. Grand prize artwork will be painted on a mural in Carson City during the Carson City Mural and Music Festival in September.  Second through fourth place winners will receive a prize.
