Carson City School Board to address AI in the classroom, food service contract, wellness and suicide prevention policies Tuesday
The Carson City School Board will discuss AI in the classroom, a food service contract renewal and proposed changes to the district’s wellness and suicide prevention policies when it meets Tuesday.
The Carson City School Board meeting is Tuesday, June 10, 5:30 p.m. in the Robert Crowell Board Room of the Carson City Community Center, 851 East William Street.
Among the items for discussion:
— The board will discuss proposed changes to the school district’s Policy 245, Wellness Policy. This is a first-reading discussion item.
— The board will discuss proposed changes to the school district’s Regulation 270, Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Post-vention, including changes to Regulation 270 Form B, CCSD Parental/Guardian Consent for Clinical Suicide Risk Assessment and the proposed elimination of Regulation 270 Form A, CCSD ASK Suicide Screening Questions. This is a discussion-only item.
— Presentation and discussion from the Carson City School District’s Artificial Intelligence Learning Ambassadors (AILA) Cohort on the use of Artificial Intelligence in the district. This is a discussion-only item.
— Discussion and possible action to approve renewal of agreement between Chartwells, Food Service Management Consultant, and the Carson City School District from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026 at a cost to the District of an Administrative Fee not to exceed $6,500 per month for 10 months and a Management Fee not to exceed $.1050 per meal with funding to come from the Nutrition Fund.
Public Comment

Email for public comment will be posted as a supplemental document and copies will be provided to the board members. The names of those who have provided virtual public comment will be read during public comment and the emails will be included in the record, but the virtual public comment will not be read during the meeting. Comments may be made by members of the public on any matter within the authority of this Board.
Please note that public comment will be taken on items marked “for possible action” before action is taken on such items, and members of the public are encouraged to comment on such items at the time they are being considered. Although members of the Board may respond to questions and discuss issues raised during public comment, no action may be taken on such a matter until the matter is placed on an agenda for action at a meeting of the Board.
In making public comment, speakers are asked to come to the table or podium, sign in, speak into the microphone, and identify themselves for the record. Commenters are instructed to limit their comments to no more than three (3) minutes, and not simply repeat comments made by others.
