On January 21, 2025, a criminal complaint was issued for Adam Lawson Woodrum for felony lewdness with a child. At the time of his arrest, Woodrum was employed with the Carson City Public Defender’s office.

Woodrum is a licensed attorney with the state of Nevada and state of Utah. He previously served as deputy attorney general with the state of Nevada.

Woodrum is no longer employed with the city.

Readership warning: details below may be graphic in nature.

The criminal complaint states that Woodrum committed the crime of lewdness with a child under 16 years of age, a category B felony.

The complaint states that Woodrum on, about, or between August 26, 2023 and August 26, 2024 molested the victim by touching their genitals. The victim was under the age of 16 at the time of the offense.

As there is a conflict of interest with prosecuting the case within Carson City considering Woodrum’s ties to the Public Defender’s Office and, by extension, the District Attorney’s office, Douglas County will be prosecuting the case.

The criminal complaint was issued by Chelsea Mazza, who serves as chief deputy district attorney for the Criminal Division within the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.

For victim privacy, we will not be providing additional details on the case, but will update on aspects of the prosecution as they become available.
