Carson City man jailed after vehicle pursuit in Virginia City

A Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning following a vehicle pursuit in Virginia City, according to the Storey County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Menke was taken into custody and booked on numerous charges including suspicion of felony evading and possession of stolen vehicle.
At around 12:50 a.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2025, Storey County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle at C Street and Mill Street in Virginia City, according to a news release.
The vehicle, a white GMC diesel truck, sped off southbound on C street with speeds estimated at 80 mph.
The vehicle failed to slow for the curve, went into the oncoming travel lane, and struck the cement barrier on Greiners Bend, it slid along the barrier crossing back over the roadway and struck a rock wall head on, the release states.
The driver, Menke, was taken into custody, checked by paramedics, and booked on numerous charges including felony evading and possession of stolen vehicle.
