Carson City area weather: Sierra snow, valley rain returns Monday
- November 16, 2025

A second storm system will arrive early Monday morning, bringing colder temperatures and more valley rain, mountain snow and breezy winds to Carson City and surrounding counties, according to the National Weather Service.
Snowy conditions in the higher elevations has promoted the National Weather Service to extend a Winter Weather Advisory through 4 p.m. Monday for the Lake Tahoe Basin and Sierra. Accumulations up to 9 to 12 inches are expected above 6,500 feet, with 2 to 6 inches at lake level below 6,500 feet.
In the Sierra, winds will be gusty, around 50 mph, along the ridges and gusts up to 30 mph at lake level making travel difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute, forecasters note.
Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution while traveling. See NVroads.com or call 5-1-1 for the latest road conditions.
Some dusting of snow is possible for foothill communities along the Sierra Front with snow and valley rain expected to taper off around sunset, according to NWS forecasters.
There is a chance of some mountain snow Tuesday morning, but just how much is unknown at this time. NWS forecasters say foothill communities along the Sierra Front, including Virginia City, could see anywhere from no snow to 2 inches.
