CARENCRO ~ Carol Maria Borchers, age 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas. A native of Innsbruck, Austria, she had been a resident of Carencro for the past thirty years.

Carol was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro. A talented seamstress and skilled knitter, she took great pride in her handiwork, often creating beautiful pieces for those she loved. She was also an exceptional cook and baker, especially known for her delicious Christmas cookies and her authentic Austrian and Hungarian dishes that brought joy to family and friends alike.

Carol found great joy in reading and cherished the companionship of her beloved dog, Mitzi. She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and the love she shared through her many talents.

Survivors include four sons, Pete Broussard (Patricia) of Metairie, Steve Broussard (Elaine) of St. Rose, Larry Broussard (Lisa) of Lafayette, and Ron Broussard (Donna) of Lafayette; one daughter, Lorraine Kidder (Clayton) of Carencro; ten grandchildren, Olivia Weiss, James Broussard, Michael Broussard, Kristen Marshall, Paris Mouton, Brandi Sandstrom, Blake Kidder, Evan Kidder, Brent Smith, Bridget Buck, and Keely Richard; sixteen great grandchildren; and one nephew, Alexander Rady (Andrea) of Vienna, Austria.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Borchers; her parents, Karl Arzt and Luise Rady Arzt; and her brother, Herman Rady.
