Calvin Walker

Calvin L. Walker, affectionately known as Santa Claus for his jovial spirit and generous heart, was called to his heavenly home on September 15, 2025. Born on September 29, 1955, in Clay County, MS, Calvin’s life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of family, and the joy of giving.

A devout Christian, Calvin walked through life with the love of Christ guiding his actions. He was born to the late Elijah Walker and Lizzie Walker, whose nurturing laid the foundation for the compassionate man he would become. Calvin’s journey on earth concluded peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS, surrounded by the warmth of his loved ones.

Calvin’s legacy is carried on through his cherished family. He leaves behind his special friend, Jackie Davidson, who stood by him with unwavering support. His memory will be honored by his son, Teriell Matthews, whose life reflects the strength and kindness of his father. Calvin also leaves behind his beloved mother, Lizzie Walker, whose love knew no bounds. His brothers, Nathaniel Walker, Andrew Dyson, Ricky Rush, and Elijah Donald, along with his sisters, Virginia Bush, Gloria Ramsey, Wanda Rush, Tolisia Rush, and Isabella Donald, will forever remember the times they shared. Though his sister Willie B. Randle and father, Elijah Walker, preceded him in death, the family reunion in heaven is a comforting thought for those he left behind. Calvin’s laughter and wisdom will live on through his three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye.

For many years, Calvin served his community as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the City of West Point. His dedication to his work was only matched by his dedication to his faith and family. Calvin’s involvement in church and community organizations reflected his commitment to service and his belief in the power of unity and support.

Calvin’s passions were simple yet profound. He found joy in the tranquility of fishing, the satisfaction of cooking, and the warmth of spending time with family and friends. Those who knew Calvin were touched by his friendly demeanor, his loving nature, and his handy skills. He was the person you could call on for help, the one who would offer the shirt off his back without a second thought, and the one whose laughter could light up the darkest room.

As we celebrate the life of Calvin L. Walker, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many. We will miss his presence, but take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with our Lord. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will be a beacon of love and kindness that will never fade. Rest in peace, dear Calvin, until we meet again.
