C-Hill Fire nears full containment; Carson City firefighters called to fire Saturday night caused by fireworks
- July 6, 2025

The C-Hill Fire in Carson City is 90 percent contained as of Sunday morning, according Incident Command and the Carson City Fire Department.
Firefighters remain on scene and are aiming for 100 percent containment by the end of the day, said Carson City Fire District Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini. The C-Hill Fire started late Friday night and has burned around 77 acres.
The cause of the C-Hill Fire remains under investigation by Carson City fire investigators and Nevada Division of Forestry.
On Saturday night, Carson City firefighters responded to a grass fire that was caused by fireworks in the area of South Roop and Idaho streets.
The fire was called into dispatch at 10:22 p.m. According to Pedrini, the incident happened when an aerial firework was launched, with sparks landing in the backyard of a residence, setting the grass on fire. There was no damage to the home or nearby structures.
The incident serves as a reminder that any spark to vegetation can cause fires to erupt, Pedrini said.
“We’re seeing people disregarding fireworks (laws) around town. They need to be more aware of the conditions, which will stay like this through summer. All it takes is one spark,” Pedrini said. “People need to be practicing fire-safe behavior. They don’t want to be responsible for burning people’s houses down.”
