Britten Antonio Morrison, a cherished and exuberant spirit whose gentle presence brought joy to those around him, passed away on November 13, 2025, at the age of 37. Born in Chicago, IL, on January 25, 1988, Britten’s life was a testament to the strength and beauty of the human spirit in the face of life’s challenges.
Britten was a young man with a chronic physical and intellectual disability who was only given a life span of 12 years. Britten had several chronic illnesses such as Cystic Fibrosis and Multiple Sclerosis. In his younger years, he lived in a facility that assisted youth with his diagnosis.
Britten’s early years in Chicago were marked by challenges, but his life turned around when he came to Springfield. He was lovingly adopted by Marcia L. Morrison who provided devoted care until her passing in 2024. Though special needs were a constant companion throughout his life, Britten never allowed them to dim the light of his loving nature. He attended HOPE Learning Academy and Lee School in District 186, where his contagious enthusiasm and kindheartedness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
A man of unwavering loyalty and spirit, Britten’s passions were simple yet profound. He was an ardent fan of football and baseball, with unwavering support for his favorite teams—the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs. The excitement of professional wrestling was another source of joy for Britten, providing him with countless thrilling moments and cherished memories.
The Morrison/Owens family tree remained a source of strength and love for Britten throughout his life. Mourning his departure yet celebrating his legacy are his aunts and uncles: Tammy (Sondra) Owens, James (Greg) Owens VII, Terry (Peggy) Morrison, Jerry (Rod) Morrison, Denny (Gina) Morrison, Kenny (Kristy) Morrison, and Kathy (Chris) Godefroid. They, along with the broader family circle and his many friends, will forever cherish the memories of his boundless love and endearing temperament.
