It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brenda Beresford (formerly of Freshwater, Placentia) residing in St. John’s.
Predeceased by her parents Michael & Monica Beresford, sister Donna, Parents-in-law Tom and Mary Myrick.
Left with endless loving memories her devoted partner of 37 years Frank Myrick and beloved cat Maizy Joe. Siblings: Peggy (Jim), Mike (Sharon), Lucille (Steve), Mary (Mahmood), Kenny (Hilda), Sheila, Jeanette, Kim (Tommy); in-laws Tom, Neil, Elaine (Gerry Fagan), and Noreen (Martin Flynn). Many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews who she adored and who always put a beautiful smile on her face especially her godchild Jennifer Beresford-Wells (Ed). Her special Aunt and best friend, Marg Hickey, Josephine Hickey, and Dr. Allison Hillman, “the Ladies” who she loved to cook for and spend time with at their weekly gatherings; as well as dear friends Helena Kennedy (nee Ryan), Rose Kelly (nee Foley), Princie Bailey, and Arnold Pomeroy. Brenda will also be missed by many childhood friends, cousins, and colleagues whose lives she touched by her presence.
Brenda was a beloved teacher who dedicated endless hours fostering the love of music and learning in all her students. She was known for her patience and understanding. Her school concerts were above and beyond with countless hours poured into helping “her kids” shine.
In 2013, she received the Bancroft Award for Outstanding Service for the Betterment of Education and Professionalism for Teachers. Brenda was the kindest, most genuine person who gave of her time freely. She loved to cook, share meals and recipes with all who knew and loved her. She treated everyone with respect, dignity and an undeniable warmth, often times putting others ahead of herself. A true angel. Forever in our hearts.
