Br. Kenneth R. Chapman, CFC

Brother Kenneth R. Chapman CFC passed away on September 12, 2025 at the age of 90. Brother Chapman was born on October 19, 1934, the son of Walter and Emma Chapman. Brother attended St. Luke’s Elementary School, Whitestone, Queen, Power Memorial Academy, and St. Joseph’s Juniorate. He studied at Iona College where he received a BA degree in English and his MFA from Catholic University.

Brother Chapman entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers on September 15,1951 and professed his final vows on June 27, 1960.

Brother’s ministry took him to several schools including , St. Cecilia’s Grammar School, Iona Grammar School, Cardinal Farley Military Academy, Br. Rice High School, Chicago,as teacher and Superior. Brother Chapman was a Councilor for the Western American Province of the Christian Brothers. and taught at St. Patrick’s High School in California and St. John’s Indian Mission in Arizona as Superior. Brother was a Loftus Scholar at Iona University. Brother was most recently a member of the Brothers’ community at St. Joseph’s Residence, New Rochelle.

Brother Chapman was predeceased by his parents Walter and Emma Chapman, and his brother, Walter. He is survived by his brother Robert Chapman.

The family and the Christian Brothers will receive friends at the Graham Funeral Home on Wednesday,

September 17, from 2 PM to 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, New Rochelle, NY, on Thursday, September 18, at 9:30 AM.

Interment will be at the Christian Brothers Cemetery in West Park, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Br. Chapman’s memory to St. Joseph’s Residence, 30 Montgomery Circle, New Rochelle, NY, 10804.
