Bobby passed away at his home in White House, TN on January 20, 2025 after a lengthy battle through various forms of cancer.

He was born September 16, 1948, in Nashville, TN, to Frances Nolen Hudgins and Rouil “Pud” Hudgins. After graduating from Cumberland High School with the class of 1966, he enlisted in the United States Navy. During his naval service, he first worked as an aircraft mechanic while stationed in Guam. He then served in combat in Vietnam, during which he was exposed to Agent Orange. He then began his long career in weather forecasting, first with training in New Jersey, then on to California, Crete, Tennessee, Nevada, Illinois and aboard the USS Saipan (LHA-2). He proudly served for 20 years, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1986. Following his military service, he worked for the National Weather Service for 20 years through various roles in offices in Jackson, KY and Binghamton, NY. Following his retirement from the federal work force in 2007, he returned home to live in White House, TN.

Throughout his life, Bobby was involved in numerous organizations, hobbies and interests. 

He was a member of Madison Church of Christ for 12 years. He was a Mason, and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, woodworking, playing computer solitaire and spending time with his dog Buddy. He never met a stranger, and enjoyed chatting with nearly anybody he came across. He will always be remembered by his family as “Almighty Bob”, “Poppy”, “Papa” and “Popeye”.

Bobby is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Becky Butler Hudgins; his daughters Casandra (Shane) Hastings of Cottontown, TN, Stephanie (Jason) Carr of Rochester, NY, and Rachel (Jeffrey) Gates of Lexington, KY; his son Greg (Suzanne) Hudgins of Harrodsburg, KY; his granddaughters Erin, Claudia and Alicia; his grandsons Michael, Nolen and James; his beloved sister Audrey Rogers; his sister-in-law Nancy Hudgins; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to count. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Billy Hudgins; and his brother-in-law Wayne Rogers.
