Betty Sanchez Martinez, de Oceanside, CA, falleció el 12 de julio de 2025 a la edad de 62 años. Nacida en Carranza, Zacatecas, México, emigró a los Estados Unidos a los 13 años. Vivió 26 años en Los Ángeles antes de establecerse en Oceanside, donde echó raíces y siguió tocando corazones con su alegría y generosidad.
Trabajó como consultora de belleza de Mary Kay, siempre con ganas de ayudar a los demás a verse y sentirse bien. Fue una mujer de fe firme, muy apegada a su iglesia y a su comunidad. Fue miembro devota de la iglesia St. John the Evangelist en South Central Los Ángeles, donde también trabajó en la cocina de la escuela y cantó en el coro. Más adelante, formó parte de la parroquia Mission San Luis Rey en Oceanside. Su fe era cálida, abierta, y siempre dispuesta—nunca dudaba en hacer una oración con quien la necesitara.
Betty amaba cantar, bailar, leer y viajar, pero lo que más disfrutaba era estar con su familia. Quería profundamente a sus padres, Consuelo y “Chon” Martinez; a sus hijos, Iván, Evelyn y Yazmín; y a sus nietos, Penny y Dom. Su carácter alegre, su cariño, y su entrega dejaron huella en todos los que la conocieron.
Le sobreviven su querido esposo, Joel Sanchez; sus hijos, Iván Sanchez, Evelyn Geiermann y Yazmín Sanchez; y sus nietos, Penélope Consuelo Geiermann y Dominiko Mack Sanchez. Le precedieron en muerte su hijo, Joel Sanchez Jr., y su padre, Ascension (Chon) Martinez.
El servicio memorial se llevará a cabo el viernes 25 de julio a la 1:00 PM en Oceanside Mortuary, ubicada sobre Coast Highway 101.
En honor a la memoria de Betty, se pueden hacer donativos a World Vision o al Hospital Infantil St. Jude.

Betty Sanchez Martinez, of Oceanside, CA, passed away on July 12, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Carranza, Zacatecas, Mexico, Betty moved to the United States at the age of 13. She spent 26 years in Los Angeles before settling in Oceanside, where she made her home and continued to touch lives with her warmth and generosity.
Betty worked as a Mary Kay beauty consultant and was passionate about helping others look and feel their best. She was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church in South Central Los Angeles, where she also worked as a school lunch lady and sang in the choir. Later, she became part of the Mission San Luis Rey Parish in Oceanside. Her faith was inclusive and compassionate—she was always ready to pray with anyone, anytime.
Betty loved singing, dancing, reading, and traveling, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She especially cherished her parents, Consuelo and Chon Ascension Martinez; her children, Ivan, Evelyn, and Yazmin; and her beloved grandchildren, Penny and Dom. Her humor, warmth, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joel Sanchez; her children, Ivan Sanchez, Evelyn Geiermann, and Yazmin Sanchez; and her grandchildren, Penelope Consuelo Geiermann and Dominiko Mack Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her son, Joel Sanchez Jr., and her father, Ascension (Chon) Martinez.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 25, at 1:00 PM at Oceanside Mortuary, located on Coast Highway 101.
In honor of Betty’s memory, donations may be made to World Vision or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
