Bernard Brown

Bernard David Brown, of McCandless Township, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on February 24, 1960, in Pittsburgh, he was the beloved son of the late Bernard K. and Lois (Alexander) Brown.

Known to many as “Dave” he devoted his life to fitness, strength, and the power of determination. From a young age, Dave felt a calling to the gym — not just as a place to train the body, but as a way of life. Over the years, he became a mentor and motivator, owning and operating several gyms throughout the North Hills, where he trained countless athletes and inspired many more with his passion, discipline, and drive.

Dave was a devoted family man and is survived by his loving wife, Victoria Pope; and his children: Nicole Double (Peter), Angela King (Brad), Anthony Pope (Lacey), Cody Brown, Bruin Brown (Amanda), and Nash Brown. He was a proud grandfather to Dominic, Chloe, Brody, Giovanni, Brooklyn, and Dixxon.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Pelkofer.

Beyond the gym, Dave loved the outdoors — especially hunting — and found freedom and joy riding his Harley Davidson. His presence was larger than life, and his commitment to both family and fitness left a lasting legacy in the lives of all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Sperling Funeral and Cremation Care. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will follow at 7:00 PM in the funeral home.

Dave will be remembered for his strength — not just of body, but of heart, spirit, and love.
