BEATRICE LORRAINE SCHINAGL (née Barbour)
September 21, 1934 – July 15, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Beatrice Lorraine Schinagl, at the age of 90, following a brief stay at Pleasantville Towers Long-Term Care.
Beatrice was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years, Franz (March 2025); her son, Franz Joseph Mark Schinagl (April 2021); her parents, Stella and Edward Barbour; her brothers, George and Tom Barbour; and her sister, Winnifred Broderick (William).
She leaves to mourn with cherished memories her children: Scott Schinagl (Tina), Lorraine Hodgson (Mark), and Linda Boland (Kevin). Also mourning her loss are her five grandchildren: Jordan Boland, Michael Hodgson (Emma), David Hodgson (Sara), Matthew Hodgson (Michelle), and Carter Schinagl (Amanda), as well as her great-grandson, Magnus Hodgson. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Barbour (Molly), and sister-in-law Ruby Barbour (Tom, deceased).
Beatrice was a devoted mother who loved and supported her family unconditionally. After raising her children, she began working at the MUN Medical School as a secretary at the age of 45, where she formed many lasting friendships, especially with Marie and Barb. She enjoyed winters in Florida and weekends at the cabin in Horse Chops with her husband and family.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Barrett’s Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow on Friday, July 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Barrett’s Chapel.
