Barbara Shea

Barbara “Barb” J. Shea (Benson), age 84, of Cumberland, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Born in Wisconsin in 1940, Barb lived a full and loving life. 

She is survived by six children: Michael Shea (Jerri), Timothy Shea, Susan Abdel-Ghani, Jamie Shea, Kelly Shea, and Patrick Shea (Joy). She is also survived by her sister, Sue Ramsey (Ollie), her brother, Doug Benson (Stevie), twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her great pride and joy. Barb was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Shea, her son, David Shea, and her brother, John Benson. 

Jack and Barb were married for 57 years. He was her greatest support and partner in life’s journey. Jack left this world in 2018 leaving a gap within the family.

For many years, Barb was an administrative assistant with Columbia Heights Schools. There she made many friends that she stayed in contact with up to her passing. Barb and Jack vacationed extensively in northern Wisconsin. After they retired, they moved to Turtle Lake. After Jack’s passing, Barb moved to Cumberland. She and Jack were longtime friends with members of their “bridge club”. Barb was a dedicated reader and loved word puzzles. Later in life she cherished her coffee visits and lunches with close friends. Barb will be dearly missed by family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
