BARBARA ANN HICHAK, a lifelong resident of Yonkers NY, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at age 79.

Born in Yonkers on March 7, 1945, Barbara was daughter of the late William and Helen (nee Yuscak) Hichak. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity Grade School, Sacred Heart High School and Valhalla Nursing School, where she received her R.N. degree. She worked in Sprain Brook Nursing Home, was assistant director at Hudson View Nursing Home, supervisor of the AIDS Unit at the Jewish Guild for the Blind for many years, and an assistant director in New Rochelle Care Center.

Barbara was a longtime parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church, until it’s closing in 2015, and sang in the choir. After retirement, she did some home care nursing, loved watching the Hallmark channel and taking trips to Atlantic City.

Dear sister of Billy Hichak (Suzanne) and Janet Nugent (Kevin) and the late Mary Beth Mincey.. She is also survived by nieces, Nina Hichak, Ellen Carozza and Amanda Mincey, nephews, Andy Mincey, Christopher Nugent (Anne), Brendan Nugent (Tanya), Richard and Jamie Carozza, great-nieces, Olivia Johnson, Taylor Youssef, Brooke Nugent and Brandy Nugent, great-nephew, Gabriel Mase; cousin, Karen Caccavale (Eddie) together with her group of “special friends” from Sacred Heart High School,  have been present and frequently helped with anything Barbara needed, like driving to appointments, laundry, food, etc. “They have been invaluable and the family is very grateful and could not have done it without them.”

Visitation will take place on, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, from 4PM to 8PM in DUCHYNSKI-CHERKO Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11:30AM. Interment follows in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
