In Loving Memory of Barbara Lois Crum

September 3, 1944 – August 1, 2025

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Barbara Lois Crum, who departed this world on August 1, 2025, at the age of 80. Barbara was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and friend to many. She lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be in the hearts of those she touched.

Born September 3, 1944, in Babylon, New York, to Frederick and Barbara Baar. She spent her early years traveling across the country with her five siblings. That adventurous start shaped the strong, compassionate woman she became—someone who worked hard, loved deeply, and lived fully.

Barbara graduated from Carrabelle High School and later furthered her education at Gulf Coast Community College, where she completed the Correctional Officer Training Program. Her dedication to growth and service led her to meaningful work at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and the Florida Department of Corrections, where she served her community with integrity and commitment.

On April 17, 1964, Barbara married the love of her life, James Crum, in Cairo, Georgia. Their marriage blossomed into a beautiful partnership that endured for over 60 years, filled with shared dreams, challenges, and a deep, abiding love. Together, they raised a wonderful family, which includes their beloved children: Deneen Crum, Jamie (Emily) Crum, Angela Crum, and Danielle (Robert) Walters. Barbara’s love for her family was immeasurable, and she found immense joy in being a grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to sixteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Phyllis (Tony) Kodra, and brother Raymond (Connie) Baar, as well as many nieces, nephews, and her cherished Aunt-in-Law, Billie Avery.

Barbara embraced life with energy and enthusiasm, which shone through in everything she loved. A skilled horseback rider and barrel racer, she earned numerous awards, driven by both talent and passion for the sport. She also took pride in showing her cherished Dobermans and Poodles, delighting audiences with their beauty and grace. Her love of the outdoors ran deep—she was an expert marksman and an avid deer hunter, always ready for the next adventure.

Throughout her life, Barbara was renowned for her impeccable homemaking skills, culinary expertise, and exceptional sense of style. She took joy in looking her best, always stepping out with her hair and makeup perfectly in place—a reflection of the care she put into everything she did. Her warmth and kindness made her a beloved figure in her community, where she was a member of the Redemption Point Church of God in Eastpoint, Florida.

Barbara was preceded in death by her granddaughters, Savannah Brooke Harrell and Emma Jae Crum; her parents; her brother Fred Baar; her sister Norma Matsen; and her brother Jerry Baar. She is now reunited with them in spirit, and their memories remain forever etched in our hearts.

A viewing will be held at 1:00 pm at Redemption Point Church of God in Eastpoint, Florida, on August 5, 2025, and funeral services at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate a life beautifully lived, filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit.

Barbara Lois Crum will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace and find a journey ahead as meaningful as the life she so beautifully lived.
