Arline Green

Arline P. Green, 88, was set free from the bonds of Alzheimer’s Disease and peacefully went home to her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 18, 2025. She was born in New London, Connecticut on August 8, 1936 to John and Alta (Howe) Palaski.

Arline was raised in Goshen, Connecticut and was an honor student and graduate of Litchfield High School. She married Laurence “Larry” Green in 1955 and raised three daughters in Torrington, Connecticut, where she had been employed at several local businesses through the years, including the Torrington Company and Charter Oak Container Corporation. In later years, Arline became the campground manager at Austin Hawes Campground in Barkhamsted, Connecticut, and then at Brighton State Park in Island Pond, Vermont. Many wonderful family memories were made during her years at Austin Hawes.

In addition to traveling the US in their RV, Arline loved dancing the polka with her husband, playing bingo at the casino, playing cribbage and cards, reading, and putting together jigsaw puzzles – a tradition which continues with her family. She was a faithful nurse to her husband, always being by his side during his many hospitalizations due to his long battle with heart disease.

As their days of pulling the RV came to a conclusion, Arline and Larry enjoyed being snowbirds, living in a RV park in Texas during the winter months and returning to Connecticut in the summers. During their last couple of years before Larry’s passing in 2017, they enjoyed two wonderful family trips to coastal Maine.

Arline leaves behind her three daughters, Lynn Rategan of Pleasant Garden, North Carolina, Lori (Mark) Brodeur of Putnam, Connecticut, and Lisa (Michael) Durocher of Rouses Point, New York, in addition to grandchildren, Charlie (Susan) Rategan, Christine (Cory) Austin, Jed (Emma) Rategan, Roger Brodeur, Joshua Brodeur, and Mitchell Durocher, four great grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Soucie, brothers-in-law, Richard (Nancy) Green, and William Green, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Palaski Jr., son-in-law, Charlie Rategan, and brothers-in-law, Norman Soucie, Carlyle (Celeste) Green, Wayne (Helen) Green, and Peter Green.

A private gravesite service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington, Connecticut.
