Arlene Weiner

Arlene Weiner, an adored mother and grandmother and a source of warmth to her family, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona, at the age of 88. Arlene, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 27, 1936, lived a life filled with love and commitment to her family and friends.

Arlene grew up in Brooklyn and attended Lane High School before going on to study at the Brooklyn School of Machines and Business. She met her husband-to-be when he moved into her building on New Lots Avenue. He thought she was adorable, and she liked his car.

After marrying in 1957, they began their life together in Chicago and then spent two years in Germany. They raised their children, Susan, David, and Michele, in a loving home. Arlene devoted many years to raising her family with strong Jewish values and holding down the fort while her husband often worked long hours out of town.

After her kids were out of the house and her husband retired, they left the cold of Chicago for a fabulous retirement in Sunrise, Florida. They enjoyed 25 years there together until 2020 when they relocated to Phoenix to be closer to family.

Arlene’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mordecai Weiner; her parents, Lillian Resnick and Isadore Resnick; and her siblings, Seymour Resnick and Miriam Fredericks. She is survived by her devoted children, Susan Weiner, David Weiner (Kelly), and Michele Lipovitch (Wayne); and her treasured grandchildren, Rebecca, Bradley, Eva, Jake, Zach, and Sam, who will continue to honor her memory by embodying the values she instilled in them.

Baruch dayan haemet. May her memory be a blessing.
