Annette Cullen

Annette (Couture) Cullen, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on September 30th, 2025.

Born on Thanksgiving Day, November 30th, 1939 to the late Edmund and Marie Couture, Annette was a lifelong Stratford resident.

She built a beautiful life filled with love, dedication, and care for others. She was married to the love of her life, Irving Lawrence Cullen Jr., for 64 wonderful years, and together they shared a lifetime of memories, joy, and unwavering devotion.

Proud St. Anthony and Stratford High graduate, Annette forged and cherished many lifelong friendships. Her career alongside Dr. Maiocco was spent caring for patients, where her warmth, kindness, and gentle nature touched the lives of countless people. She had a gift of making everyone feel welcomed and cared for, whether at work, with friends, or with family.

Outside of work, she lived life to the fullest and enjoyed many hobbies that brought her joy. To Annette, fun wasn’t a hobby, it was a way of life, and everyone lucky enough to know her got to share in it. In her younger years, she loved to roller skate, ski, bowl, play guitar by the campfire, and gather around the table to play card games with friends and family. Annette had a love for traveling and enjoyed countless cruises and trips over the years.

Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her, and she will be remembered for her love, wisdom, and the example she set through her compassion and strength.

In addition to her late husband, Annette was predeceased by her 4 siblings, Donald, Joseph, Ruth, and Mary Ann. She is survived by her four loving children, Larry and Lisa Cullen, Sherry and Tony Fugia, Gary Cullen and Nancy Oman, Terry and Ron Nolting; five grandchildren Kaileen Dummar (George), Kristyn Rausch (Douglas), Stephanie Nolting (Anthony Parrella), Matthew Nolting (Alicia), and Nicholas Nolting (Julia). She is also survived by her two great grandchildren, Oliver and Penelope Nolting, her very close niece, Laurie Farrell, and several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to her devoted caregivers, Kathy Thomas, Tina Bonaventura, and Marianne Procyk.

Friends and Family may visit Monday evening, October 6, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main St, Stratford.
