Ann Stefanik

April 19, 1942 – July 11, 2025

Age 83, of East Liberty and Penn Hills, “Annie” was a true force of nature, an absolute leader, constantly in motion, equal parts sweet and spicy, “unapologetically genuine,” with a great sense of humor and a razor-sharp wit. Most importantly, Annie was full of love and compassion and insults for other people, and a best friend to any animal.

Native to East Liberty, a graduate of Peabody High School, Annie served her beloved East Liberty community for more than 40 years, well known for finding every possible tax loophole on behalf of the poorest in her community. If you couldn’t afford to pay the H&R Block fees, Annie PAID THEM FOR YOU on her own credit card. She worked 15-hour days without a break for months. People waited hours to see Annie, and Annie truly loved her people.

Annie was laid to rest by her son and favorite daughter-in-law on Friday, July 18, next to her beloved husband, Mike, and her favorite son, Michael. They are finally reunited.

A Memorial Mass for Annie will be held on April 19th, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Shadyside, with a family event to follow.
