Ann Ross Sinclair, 80, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2025 in Asheville, NC. She was born on November 6, 1944 in Oak Ridge, TN to the late Joseph and Dorothy Sinclair.
Ann received an Associate of Arts degree from Green Mountain College, a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management from Wilmington College, and a Master of Science in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from NC State University.
Beginning with childhood summers spent at Pawleys Island, SC and at summer camp in the mountains of NC and VA, Ann had a lifelong love of the outdoors. She devoted her life to improving the trails and greenways of Cary, NC; Dare County, NC and as a trail specialist for the state of NC parks system.
Whether it be driving 13,000 miles in 3 months while traversing the US and Canada with her children in a tent camper, assisting a professor with research in Costa Rica, or spending her later years attending Airstream rallies, she was always up for an adventure.
She is survived by her son, Ryan Coughlin and his wife Amy Coughlin; daughter, Siobhan Stoner; grandchildren, Cullin Capps, Caroline Capps, Clara Coughlin, and Emmett Coughlin; and her sister Barbara Little. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
We all have a lifetime of good memories because of her.
In celebration of her life, donations can be made to the NC State Park Service
(https://www.ncstateparkpartners.org/make-a-donation) and to the Susan G. Komen foundation (https://www.komen.org/how-to-help/donate/).
