Amber Black

Amber Jean (Vohler) Black, 46, of International Falls, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at her home.

Amber was born June 4, 1979, in International Falls to Carol and Dennis Vohler.

At a young age, Amber played the piano and took dance lessons. Throughout high school, she loved cheerleading, lettering in football cheer, basketball cheer, and track. She also was the cheer captain.

Amber enjoyed coordinating activities at the Good Samaritan Society, teaching dance, and running a daycare. She also enjoyed cabin trips with her family. The movie Grease was her favorite.

The most important thing to Amber was her family. She cherished every moment and memory with them. She loved all kids like her own. She had a huge heart and cared for everybody she met. She was so proud to be a mom. Her kids were everything to her and she would brag about them any chance she got, even though they thought she was a horrible driver. Watching them grow up and accomplish things was one of Amber’s biggest joys. She loved snuggling with her pets. Amber had many friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles that she loved so much.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Vohler; sister, Joleen Heatherly; nephew, Charlie Heatherly; niece, Lily LaForge; cousin, Shane Olson; father-in-law, Ronny Anderson; and brother-in-law, (Tom Black).

Amber is survived by her husband, Jim Black; children, Natalee Black, Joelle Black, and Matthew Black, along with her special cousin, Tina Hendrickson; father, Dennis Vohler; brothers, David (Tera) Vohler, Dale (Rhonda) Vohler, Charles (Jackie) Heatherly, Daniel Vohler, and Derick Vohler.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in International Falls. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at the Border Bar.
