Alton Hill

Alton Lee Hill left his mortal body on Monday, June 16, 2025, with his wife at his side.

The second of five children, Alton was born in Rigby, Idaho, on April 4, 1940, to Charles Cecil Hill and Lola Estella Miskin.

While growing up on a farm in Idaho, he moved often between his parents following their divorce and attended multiple public schools until his entry into the United States Navy on February 25, 1959.

During his service, Alton worked as Chief Navy Intelligence Specialist. He saw much of the world and acquired a plethora of memories and experiences, including tours on the USS Nimitz and USS Midway. In March 1978, Chief Petty Officer Alton Lee Hill retired from a long and satisfying career in the Navy.

Following his retirement, Alton pursued his love for education at Brigham Young University, earning a BS in Construction Management and a BS in Industrial Arts. Later, he acquired his Commercial Driver License, a Realtor’s License, and went on to work in Construction Management until his full retirement in 2005.

On September 5, 1964, Alton married his sweetheart, Connie Lee Peterson. Two years later, in 1966, they were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple. Together, they had six sons, served as temple workers, and completed two Latter-day Saint missions — the first to France (2005–2008), and the second to Australia (2010–2012). Sadly, Connie passed away shortly after their return from Australia, leaving Alton alone after nearly five decades of marriage.

On June 18, 2019, Alton met the second love of his life at an LDS Singles Dance. Declaring love at first sight, Alton married Michele Hunter Mirabile on August 17, 2019, and settled in American Fork, Utah, content to spend the remainder of his days at her side.

Alton was a faithful and generous man, who devoted his entire life to the service of family, God, and country. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Michele Hunter Hill; his sons, Lee Andrew Hill; Wayne Arthur Hill; Peter Anthony Hill; Daniel Gene Hill (Julia); Brian Charles Hill; Jeffrey Stephen Hill (Jenny); twelve grandchildren; his brother, Charles Scott Hill (Kimberly); and his sister, Roberta Hill Johnson (Jim).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Cecil Hill and Lola Estella Miskin; his wife, Connie Lee Peterson; and his sisters, Evelyn Hill Kalteich and Kay Hill Yaskus.

Funeral services will be held for Alton on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 165 North 350 West, American Fork, Utah, where a viewing will be held prior to the service at 10:00 am. Interment will be in Ucon, Idaho, at the Ucon Cemetery.
