Aleda Jane Penn, 100, passed away on February 02, 2025 at Riverview Estates in Marquette, KS. Aleda was born on April 2, 1924 in Salina, KS to the late Emil and Lydia (Peterson) Carlson. She was the widow of Philip Penn Sr., who passed away in 1979.

Aleda was an Assaria High School graduate and she attended Brown Mackie Business School. She also completed a program to receive a nursing certificate. During World War II, Aleda office work for Camp Phillips POW camp. She also worked doing housework, washing windows, was a caregiver, and worked at Bethany Home. She was active at church and in her family life, as well. Aleda was a member of Assaria Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was also a Boy Scout Room Mother and enjoyed all the time she spent with many church and family activities. Aleda spent much of her free time gathering and collecting documents and photos detailing her school, extended family, and area history.

Aleda is survived her son: Philip Penn , Jr. (Kim) of Arizona; grandchildren: Amanda Penn, Travis Penn, Brett Siemsen, and Briana Zinni; great-grandchildren: Aahliya Penn, Arryona Penn, Paityn Beagle, Carson Zinni, and Beau Zinni; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Philip Penn Sr.; brothers: Delton and Levoy Carlson; and daughter-in-law: Vicki Penn.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 7, 2025, 10:30 AM at Assaria Lutheran Church in Assaria, KS, with Pastor Jim Strasen officiating. Burial will follow at Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.
