Alan Richard Stoff passed away at the age of 80 on June10, 2025, surrounded by his devoted family. Alan was born on May 16, 1945, to John and Mildred Stoff, in Baltimore, Maryland and grew up in their loving household with his brother Mark (Mickey), who predeceased him in 2019. Alan attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute High School, followed by University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, graduating in 1970 with a BS in Pharmacy. He was married to Roslyn S. Stoff (neé Schwartz), who predeceased him in 2014. Together, they had three children, Laurie, born in 1970, Jeffrey, born in 1973, and Kenny, born in 1975, as well as six grandchildren, Meghan, Johnathan (JJ), Eli, Charlotte, Andy, and Rose, all of whom survive him. He is also survived by his son-in-law John Benschoter and daughters-in-law Amy Painter and Vanessa Stoff (neé Taylor), and his devoted his fiancé, Nikki Wheatley.
Alan dedicated much of his life to healthcare, working as a pharmacist for over 30 years. He was an active member of the Alpha Zeta Omega Pharmaceutical Fraternity. In retirement, he loved spending time with his family, attending theater (especially musicals) and concerts, dining out, traveling, and was known to all as a sharp dresser and a prolific purveyor of “dad” jokes, who always had a joke or two at the ready to make his family and friends smile.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 13 at 9:00 am at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, located at 24210 N. 68th St, Phoenix, AZ 85054. Visitation will follow the graveside service at Clearwater Mayo Senior Living Community, 6650 E. Mayo Boulevard, Phoenix, AZ 85054 from 1:00-4:00 pm. The family will sit shiva at Alan’s daughter Laurie’s home beginning Sunday, June 15 through Tuesday, June 17th, from 12:00-8:00 pm, with minyan at 7:00 pm. Please omit flowers, but contributions in Alan’s memory may be made to Phoenix Rescue Mission, St. Mary’s Foodbank, or Doctors Without Borders.
