Ada Heberle

Ada May Lower Heberle, 103, passed away March 11, 2025, in her home at Kindred Place, Harrisburg. Born October 31, 1921, she was the daughter of William and Florence (Wise) Lower.

Ada graduated Best Dancer from John Harris High School in 1941. During WWII she worked at a steel mill—our Rosie the Riveter. Seven years after her husband died, she moved to Kindred Place in Harrisburg, where she continued to dance. Ada was a dedicated mother and friend, and, in her younger years, an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church. There were plenty of hobbies over the years, especially after the “kids were out of the house.” She enjoyed gardening and refinishing antique trunks for each of her five children. And many were blessed to receive one of her crocheted afghans.

A special THANK YOU goes out to all the staff at Kindred Place of Harrisburg and Hospice of Central Pa, all of whom provided her excellent care.

Ada is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Andrew Heberle; daughter, Jane Drew; brothers John and Jim Lower and sister Joyce Denk. She was the last of the Greatest Generation on both sides of the family.

She is survived by her children: Andrea Faber (Russ), Harrisburg; Andy Heberle (Jackie), Powhatan, VA; Jeff Heberle (Kate), Savannah, GA; and Dave Heberle (Judy), Harrisburg.

She was known as Gram to her grandchildren: Robin Self, Matt Anthony (Karen), Zachary Schiarelli (Nikki), Jared Schiarelli (Tina), Elijah Schiarelli (Megan), Megan Heberle, Angela Melius (Roy), Laura Seneca, Erin Ramsay, Dylan Heberle (Lara) and DJ Heberle, 19 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 420 N. Progress Ave, Harrisburg with interment to follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be in the church from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM prior to the service.
