Abel Zepeda
Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Abel Zepeda, quien entró en el descanso eterno el 20 de junio de 2025 en Chicago, Illinois, a la edad de 81 años. El camino de Abel comenzó el 30 de julio de 1943 en Tecario, Michoacán, México. Le precedieron en la muerte sus queridos padres, los difuntos Adrián y Margarita Zepeda, pero como el cuarto de cinco hijos, Abel aprendió los valores del trabajo duro y la familia, principios que llevó consigo toda su vida. El centro de su mundo era su familia. Es el devoto esposo de Gloria (de soltera Baca) Zepeda, querido padre y luz guía para sus hijos Alfonso (Vanessa), Gloria (Germán Pérez), Adrián y Esmeralda (Gabriel Medina), queridísimo abuelo de Robert (Christine), Erick (Olivia) y Nathaniel, y un querido bisabuelo de corazón de Myah y Luna. Un hombre de profunda fe, Abel fue un pilar en su comunidad eclesial. Cuando no dedicaba tiempo a su familia o al trabajo, se le podía encontrar disfrutando de sus pasatiempos favoritos: pescando con caña o animando con pasión a sus equipos favoritos de béisbol, boxeo y fútbol. El legado de amor, fe y devoción de Abel perdurará en el corazón de quienes lo conocieron.
Las oraciones por Abel se realizarán el viernes 27 de junio a las 8:30 a. m. desde la Funeraria Casey & Rios, ubicada en 4540 West Diversey Avenue, Chicago, IL 60639, y se dirigirán al Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, ubicado en 1170 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016, para la Misa de Entierro Cristiano a las 10:00 a. m. El entierro será el Día de Todos los Santos. El velatorio comenzará el jueves 26 de junio, de 4:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., en la funeraria. With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Abel Zepeda, who entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2025 in Chicago, Illinois at the age of 81. Abel’s journey began on July 30, 1943 in Tecario Michoacan, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, the late Adrian and the late Margarita Zepeda but as the fourth of five children, Abel learned the values of hard work and family – principles he carried with him throughout his life. The center of his world was his family. He is the devoted husband of Gloria (nee Baca) Zepeda, cherished father and guiding light to his children Alfonso (Vanessa), Gloria (German Perez), Adrian, and Esmeralda (Gabriel Medina), dearest grandfather of Robert (Christine), Erick (Olivia), and Nathaniel, and heart-filled dear great-grandfather of Myah and Luna. A man of profound faith, Abel was a pillar in his church community. When not dedicating his time to his family or work, he could be found enjoying his favorite pastimes: casting a line while fishing or passionately cheering on his favorite baseball, boxing and soccer teams. Abel’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Prayers for Abel will be held on Friday, June 27th, 8:30 AM from Casey & Rios Funeral Home, 4540 West Diversey Avenue, Chicago, IL 60639 proceeding to The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1170 N River Rd, Des Plaines, IL 60016 for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM.
