Aaron (Chip) Mahaney

Aaron (Chip) Mahaney of New Smyrna Beach, Florida died unexpectedly/suddenly on June 2, 2025.

Aaron was born on February 24, 1957, In Syracuse New York to John Mahaney and Doris Mahaney (Alley). 

He attended Liverpool schools and it is there that he found his love and talent for playing the drums. 

He was a band member and soloist throughout his school career, in addition to performing in 

New York State’s Marching band, The Marauders, as well as practicing with many self-formed rock bands

in his Liverpool home basement and local gigs.  Upon high school graduation, his professional performing career 

began in Canada with the band Louie Allen and the Islanders, followed by several years drumming for Stryder

in the College Station area of Pennsylvania as well as Philadelphia.

He eventually relocated to Central Florida where he performed throughout the area with several different bands over the years. 

A highlight was performing at the Hard Rock Cafe (Orlando and Acapulco) and the Daytona Beach Bandshell. In his retirement, 

he composed and recorded music in his home studio and as well playing occasionally with several bands in the New Smyrna 

Beach/Volusia County area.

Aaron is survived by his wife Cindy Burkett of New Smyrna Beach, (FL) brothers Michael Mahaney (Syracuse, NY), 

Daniel Mahaney (Auburn, NY), and sister Donna Mahaney (Madison, WI) along with many nieces and nephews.
