Pioneering Motorcycle Racer Mary McGee Dies at 87

Mary McGee (1936-2024), a pioneering motorcycle racer and subject of the recent ESPN documentary “Motorcycle Mary,” died November 27, 2024, at the age of 87. McGee, who began her racing career in the late 1950s, was one of the first women to compete in motorcycle racing. She was known for her fearless spirit and her ability to excel in both road racing and off-road racing, including the grueling Baja 500, which she famously raced solo in 1975. McGee’s legacy extends beyond her racing accomplishments, as she served as a mentor to other women in motorsports and was inducted into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 2018.
