Former Vikings Linebacker Lonnie Warwick Passes Away at 82

Lonnie Warwick, a formidable linebacker known for his time with the Minnesota Vikings’ legendary “Purple People Eaters” defense, passed away at the age of 82. A key member of the Vikings’ defensive unit in the 1960s and early 1970s, Warwick was a feared opponent who led the team in tackles multiple times. He played in Super Bowl IV and was a crucial part of the Vikings’ defensive success during that era. After his playing career, Warwick transitioned to coaching, spending time with the Washington Redskins, Salem University, and the Denver Gold.
