Donald “Donnie” W. Hudson
- September 23, 2021
Donald “Donnie” W. Hudson, 65, of Springfield, IL, passed over to be with the Lord on September 16, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Holy Family Center. Donnie battled numerous medical issues for the past several years, but received wonderful, compassionate care by the team at St. Joseph’s Home in his final season.
Donnie was born on September 6, 1956 in Springfield, IL. He was a colorful personality from his days on the football and baseball teams at Glenwood and Lanphier High Schools, through his 32 years at CWLP as an IBEW electrician and his many recreational activities including hunting, rugby, St. Louis Cardinal games, The Blues Club, and anywhere he could “hold court”.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley A. Hudson of Springfield; four siblings, Brenda A. Walton (husband, John) of Elk Grove Village, Mick Hudson (wife, Karen) of Decatur, Dradley D. Hudson (wife, Betsy), and Robert M. Hudson, both of Springfield; five nieces and nephews, Hillarie Ryann Hudson (husband, Joe Mize) of Mt. Zion, Heather K. Hudson (husband, Eric Wegner) of Conway, AK, David H. Hudson (wife, Natalie) of Springfield, Michael P. Hudson of Springfield, and Katie S. Hudson of Peoria.
Donnie is preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Hudson; grandparents, Clarence Joshua Kratzer and Hilda A. Kratzer and Keith Hudson and Minnie Hudson; and his beloved “Four legged” companions, Bell and Dixie.
Due to the times and circumstances we are living in, the family is having a private graveside service.
People wishing to give a memorial can either send a donation to St. Joseph’s Home or raise a toast to the “Hud” they remember at his best.
