Jerald “Jerry” Bruce Kadlec, 68, Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids. The Celebration of Life gathering will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, where there will be a Time of Reflection at 4:30 p.m. Private family inurnment will be in Czech National Cemetery at a later date.

Jerry was born on November 16, 1956, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Dorothy (Pratt) Kadlec. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School, class of 1975. Jerry worked for the College Community School District Transportation Department for over 15 years. He was a long-time referee/umpire throughout both the Cedar Rapids School Districts and State Tournament level. He enjoyed watching sports, occasionally visiting the casino, and was an avid fan of the Cubs, Packers, and Iowa Hawkeyes.

He is survived by his loving companion Jayne Kilgallon and her children Joseph (Nicole) Kilgallon and Heather (Tim) Chambers; his brothers Larry (Paula) Kadlec and Richard (Janet) Kadlec; his sister-in-law Terry Kadlec; his three “grandchildren”; beloved dog Bella and cats Harry and Miss Kitty; as well as his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James “Jim” Kadlec, and his dog Rosie.
