Carson City man and Minden woman arrested in connection to 2023 murder

Two people have been arrested in connection to a 2023 murder that happened on Stephanie Way in Minden, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Larry Allen Arnold, 48, from Carson City and Melissa Nicole Malmstedt, also known as Melissa Clack, 42, from Minden, were identified as suspects in the murder of Paul Adam Mulkey, 42, of Carson City. Both suspects were arrested for the murder of Mulkey on Monday, Dec. 30.

Mulkey was found  dead at the end of Stephanie Way in Minden on August 14, 2023. An autopsy determined that Mulkey had been murdered.

Arnold and Malmstedt are now in custody, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office in a news release Monday.

Arnold was arrested in Towner, North Dakota and booked into the Heart of America Correctional & Treatment Center on a no bail warrant from the East Fork Justice Court. Arnold is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Malmstedt was arrested at her home in Minden by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Minden Jail Facility on a no bail warrant. Malmstedt is charged with first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, according to the news release.
