Craig Edward Hopkins, 80, of Marion, Iowa passed away on November 26, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids with his wife by his side. There will be a Celebration of Life in the Spring per his wishes.
Craig was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on August 26, 1944, to Edward Hopkins and Melba (Fledderman) Hopkins. He has two brothers, Jerry and Brad. He attended LSU-NO and graduated with a BA in History. He married Gail Gonzales and later divorced, but having two children Loren and Andrew.
He married Barbara Richardson on December 31, 2007, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had 17 years to enjoy life together. Both loved golf. Where Craig got his nickname of “Laser” as he was an awesome putter. They also enjoyed watching their football teams of LSU and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Craig had a second nickname of “Mickey” as the tiger for LSU is Mike the tiger. He did, however, become an avid Hawkeye fan. They truly enjoyed many trips, and fun times at The Villages. He was a loving, caring husband who always had a smile. So loved and will be so missed.
Preceding him in death were Craig’s mother and father.
Craig is survived by two children Loren Altura with husband Jordan of California, and son Andrew Hopkins living in New Orleans; Barb’s family Todd and Brett Richardson; grandkids, Lorelei, Sebastian, Emily, Brooke, Harper, Hadley, Brecken, and Cullin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the family.
