Duane Eugene McQuerry
Cedar Rapids
Duane Eugene McQuerry, 75, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, after a five-year battle with cancer. There will be a Celebration of Life at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre are in charge of arrangements.
Duane was born on July 26, 1949, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Luther W. and Viola E. (Bouquot) McQuerry. He graduated from Washington High School, class of 1968. Duane served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 during the Vietnam War. Duane was united in marriage to Linda Perkins on May 11, 1974, in Cedar Rapids. He was known as an amazing Auto Body Technician, especially when auto body repair was an art. He was a talented jack of all trades, a hard worker, with a keen sense of responsibility. A nature lover, he loved to fish, camp, boat and travel. He loved to build things and always had several projects lined up at any given time. He was always happy to lend a hand to others, share his knowledge and often volunteered to help.
Duane is survived by his wife Linda; children Julie McQuerry and John (Tiffany) McQuerry; two grandchildren Caden and Cole; his brother Loren McQuerry; his sister Doris Peters; his brother-in-law Tom Perkins; his sister-in-law Peggy Pechota; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister-in-law Lesta Perkins, and his niece Michele Kruise.
