She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Clarence, and she graduated in 1959 from Tipton Community Schools. Larry and Nonie were united in marriage on August 9, 1959 at the Presbyterian Church in Tipton and were married for 61 years. Larry and Nonie raised their family on the Dewell family farm north of Clarence. Larry and Nonie then moved to Lowden and then returned to Clarence for retirement. Nonie’s full-time job was being a mother and a full-time farm wife. She was the best cook and fed not only her family and farm hands but lots of her children’s friends. As the family nest shrunk she began working at DeWayne’s and Wal-Mart in Tipton while she cared for her parents. Later she worked for Little Home Daycare in Lowden and then started Grandma Nonie’s daycare until retirement. In her spare time she loved attending her 14 grandchildren’s activities and she was her grandchildren’s biggest fans! Nonie was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and the Masonic Lodge. She was active in her church and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved being part of her Lend-a-Hand group for over 65 years and also loved sending cards, Christmas cards, birthday cards, and get well and sympathy cards to most of Cedar County!

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be disbursed between St. John’s United Church of Christ, Clarence Ambulance, or Clarence Senior Living Center.

We would like to thank the staff at the Clarence Senior Living Center for their special care of our dad & mom. We would also like to thank the staff and Hospice unit at St. Luke’s for their love and care over the last several years.
