Sharon “Sharie” Marie Wendt, 77, of Marion died suddenly on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at her home. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Marion by Rev. Neil Manternach. Burial: Cedar Memorial Cemetery. A time of sharing will take place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday at Teahen Funeral Home. Those not wishing to attend the sharing, may visit with the family on Tuesday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Sharie is survived by her children, Wendi Wendt of Marion, Kristi Wendt (Dan Steichen) of Scottsdale, AZ, and Jeremy “JJ” Wendt (Ashley Tsosie- Mahieu) of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Jericho and Penny Wendt of Tucson, AZ and Willow Wendt of Marion; siblings, Susan (Jim) Teahen, Joseph “Joe” Hruska and Jeffrey (Kendal) Hruska; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barry in 1997; her parents; and in-laws, Eileen and Maynard Wendt.
Sharie was born on October 22, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Edward and Mary Novak Hruska. She graduated from LaSalle High School in 1965 and attended Mt. Mercy College earning an associate secretarial degree. On November 11, 1967, she married Barry Wendt at St. Ludmila Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Throughout the years, Sharie worked part time at Sue’s Hallmark, Regalo’s and Puddle Jumpers.
Sharie had a great love for her family, friends, and grandchildren. She was always cheerful, positive, had an infectious laugh and was full of smiles. She enjoyed gardening, birdwatching crafting, meeting friends for coffee, having Monday breakfasts with her siblings, thrifting, traveling with her sister, and watching detective “whodunit” shows.
Memorials may be directed to the family for an established memorial fund.
