Dee was born on September 8, 1934, to Elmer and Lilly Schuler in Tyler, Minnesota. After graduating from High School, she worked at Weiner Memorial Hospital in Marshall, Minnesota, while waiting for Kenny to come home from the service. They were married on April 16, 1955, then moved to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, where she was a homemaker. The family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1973, where she worked alongside Kenny in his wholesale cheese/meat business, Kenny’s Distributing.
Dee was very musical; she loved playing the accordion, loved all kinds of music, and loved to dance. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She cheered on the Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, Iowa Hawkeye women’s basketball, Iowa men’s basketball and football, and Indiana Fever. Dee survived breast cancer twice, was a loving caregiver to her husband, and even through her own health issues, she always kept a positive attitude.
Dee was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church.
She was a loving and caring wife, wonderful Mom, Gram, and great Nana. She was extremely proud of her family and loved it when they visited, always wanting to do anything they could to help her with whatever she needed.
She will be missed but lovingly remembered by her children; Paul Bump, Paulette “Sissy” (Marty) Klingler, Perry (Lorri) Bump, and Pernell Bump; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenny, and sister Gini Swift.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Pius Church in Dee’s honor.
