Karen Sue (Paul) Frerick, age 79, passed away on November 2, 2024, due to complications from cancer.
A private service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11 am at Memorial Services of Iowa in Ankeny, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Raymond; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Grebasch and her grandson, Jerry. Also surviving are her sisters Judith Schatzle of Marion, Janene (Lon) of Toddville, and brothers Kenneth Paul of Marion, Evan Paul of Center Point and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norma and Kenneth Paul, and sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Edwin Harms.
Karen was born June 30, 1945 in Alburnett, Iowa. On November 18, 1967, she was united in marriage to Raymond Frerick at Alice United Methodist Church. They made their home in Vinton for several years, before moving to Cedar Rapids where she spent the majority of her life. She moved, and spent her final years in Ankeny, Iowa to be closer to her daughter and her family. Karen spent most of her working life at Rockwell Collins before spending her last working years at Aegon. She finally retired to spend time with her husband as well as enjoy her love of reading and hobbies of sewing, cross-stitching and genealogy.
The family thanks those taking care of Karen in the last month from Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Sunny View Care Center and St. Croix Hospice.
