Dorothy Isabel Swartz, 100, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday October 21, 2024, at the Woodlands in the Meth-Wick Community. Services: 1:00 p.m. Saturday November 2, 2024, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Chaplain Rick Sparks officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. until service time. The burial will take place in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Those left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her children; Sandra (Roger) Dusil of Preston, Iowa, Larry Swartz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gary (Connie) Swartz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, her grandchildren, Justin Dusil, Shelby (Jarrod) Tessendorf, Hunter (Cam) Swartz, Todd (Paula) Trumpold, Jeff (Mel) Trumpold, Lisa (Eric) Kelderman, and 12 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle L. Swartz, a stepdaughter, Lila (Robert) Trumpold, a sister, Alice (Clark) Johnston and a brother, Robert (Maxine) Carris.
Dorothy was born on December 2, 1923, in Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Mildred (Ruplinger) Carris. She graduated from Keota High School. She married Lyle L. Swartz on May 2,1945, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dorothy was a care giver for Family Services in Cedar Rapids. Dorothy enjoyed making friends and loved helping others. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
