Marion Lamoine Reinhardt
Cedar Rapids
Marion Lamoine Reinhardt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Services will be private.
Marion was born on July 15, 1934, in New Salem, Illinois. He was the son of Lynden and Hulda (Dunham) Reinhardt, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife Maria (Arce) Reinhardt and his daughter Mary (Reinhardt) Hagist. Marion is survived by his sister Dolores Rogers (Joe) of Georgia and brother Richard Reinhardt (Cherie) of Colorado.
Survivors are his daughter, Kathryn Kimbrell (Mark) of Sedalia, Missouri; stepson, Tom Barker (Rebecca) of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Pam Davis of Alhambra, California, and stepdaughter, Charlotte Hoy (Marty) of Robins; and a son-in-law, Brent Hagist of Iowa City. Marion had 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Marion had several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
Marion went by his middle name Lamoine in grade school and high school in New Salem, Illinois where he grew up. His family always referred to him as Lamoine. He graduated with high honors from Pittsfield HS in 1952. Marion enlisted in the Navy in 1953 and served until 1957 specializing in radio engineering.
After Marion’s service in the Navy, he went to college at the University of Illinois and received his master’s degree in electrical engineering. During this time, he was united in marriage to Gladys Norris. They had been married for 19 years. Marion worked for Rockwell International for almost 40 years, 5 of which were in Chicago, Illinois. He returned to Cedar Rapids in 1989 and retired from Rockwell in 1998.
Marion was a Mason and served Lodge #6 in Marion, Iowa. He was raised to a Master Mason in January 1958. He served as Worshipful Master in 1973. Marion was Grand Master of the Grand Council Royal & Select Masters of Iowa from 1995 to 1996. Marion was noted as delivering Masonic rituals flawlessly time and time again, Marion was indeed a “Mason’s Mason.”
In 1981 Marion was united in marriage to Maria “Susie” DeJesus Arce-Barker. Marion and Susie spent 40+ years of bliss together. They traveled on many elaborate trips, they enjoyed dancing together and going to parties. They truly enjoyed each other’s company. Whenever Susie came into the room Marion’s eyes would light up. Marion would move heaven and earth to make Susie happy and she adored him. During their last few years together at the Keystone Cedars, they were known as the love birds, sitting on their sofa holding hands.
There is no tragedy in the death of a 90-year-old man who lived a healthy, wonderful, and prosperous life but our grief is unavoidable. It has been devastating to watch this loving, kind, and merciful man be robbed of his intelligence and his memories. When we are sad about our loss, we must all remember the family gatherings, the special occasions when we were together, everyone was laughing and cheering each other on with margaritas. It was truly one big party with Marion and Susie. May we find peace knowing that they are together again ‘the love birds’ dancing together in heaven’s eternity.
Memorials are suggested to go to The Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to The Keystone Cedars Cottage Staff in Cedar Rapids and The Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.
