Karla (Klaner) Baskerville Voss, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, after a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease. An open house for family and friends will be held from
1- 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the home of Rob and Becky Baskerville, 3741 Rogers Road NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Karla was born October 18, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, to LaVern and Nancy (Jones) Klaner. She was raised on her family’s Century Farm in Palo, Iowa. A graduate of Kennedy High School, Karla continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa, earning her bachelor’s degree in music and mathematics. On August 18, 1979, she married Dennis Baskerville at Trinity United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, and together they welcomed two children, Emily and Bob. After their divorce, she married Gary Voss, and the two shared a passion for travel, creating unforgettable memories on their adventures before eventually parting ways.
Karla was a jeweler at Siebke Hoyt, where her appreciation for detail and elegance allowed her to see the true beauty in each piece. Later, she enjoyed her time as a Mary Kay consultant for many years, and her exceptional talent in sales earned her the esteemed title of ‘Queen of Sales’ in 1998. Karla concluded her professional career at Pearson Professional Center in Coralville, Iowa, prior to her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeyes sports, sewing, and knitting. Karla took great pride in her grandchildren and their many successes.
Karla is survived by her mother, Nancy Klaner of Palo; daughter, Emily (Ryan) Richardson of Cedar Rapids; son, Bob Baskerville (Morgan Ryan) of Palo; grandchildren, Edward Richardson, Arabella Richardson, and Emmy Baskerville; sister, Becky (Rob) Baskerville; nieces and nephew, Lauren (Jack) Baskerville, Jordan Baskerville (Eilish Morrissey), and Peyton (Colton) Schneider; and great-nephew, Owen Baskerville.
She was preceded in death by her father, LaVern Klaner; and uncle, Rodney Jones.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
In accordance with Karla’s wishes, her brain has been donated to the Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center to advance research for Huntington’s disease.
