Journey Fletcher, Jalani Jennings, and Harmoni Agyei

Our hearts are deeply broken at the passing of our beloved Journey Janette Fletcher, age 25, and her beloved children, Jalani Jamir Jennings, age 5, and Harmoni Eliece Agyei, age 3 months. Journey and her children left time and entered eternity sometime before August 29, 2024.

Journey was born on September 4, 1998, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Anthony Jackson and Tia Fletcher. Raised in Elyria by her grandmother, Francis Jackson, until her passing, Journey later moved to Copley, Ohio to live with her Uncle Jeff and Aunt Candace Thomas, where she was lovingly embraced as their second daughter. She grew up alongside her cousins, Ronnell, Nicole, and Jeff Jr. who were like siblings to her.

Journey attended Copley High School and later graduated from Lorain High School. She moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she worked as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) while pursuing her nursing degree at Fortis College. Her smile and laughter were infectious, and her love for her children was immense—she treated Jalani like a young king, and Harmoni was the light of her life.

Journey was not only beautiful but also incredibly intelligent. Schoolwork came naturally to her, and she excelled in everything she set her mind to. She was talented and self-taught in many areas—makeup, hairstyling, decorating, and more. In her younger years, Journey danced with the Ed Davis Dance Troupe, mimed with Silent Praise, played basketball at Copley High School, and liked cooking, with her specialty being beef samosas. She was independent and driven, always striving to make the most of her life. Journey made close friends wherever she went, especially during her time in Elyria and Lorain. She was unforgettable, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she met.

Journey knew the love of God from an early age, attending United Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio. In recent months, she had been seeking to renew her faith and, in her words, “…get closer to God…”, with plans to be rebaptized in September. She understood that God is a forgiving God, and one of her final messages expressed, “I hope God forgives me.”

On January 12, 2019, Journey birthed a beautiful baby boy, Jalani Jamir in Cleveland, Ohio. Jalani had such a calm and cool demeanor and loved playing with his cousins and video games. He had just started kindergarten and was looking forward to starting basketball with i9 Sports on the Marburn02 team. Jalani loved helping out with his baby sister and playing with Destiny. Jalani was lovingly adopted and will be sorely missed by the Jennings family (‘Granny’ and Grandma Angela).

On May 14, 2024, a beautiful baby girl, Harmoni Eliece was born, and her debut will forever be remembered by neighbors who witnessed her birth. Though only with us a short time, Harmoni brought so much joy to her family. She will be missed by her father, Evans Agyei, sister Destiny, and her paternal grandparents, Joseph and Vida Agyei.

Journey will be sorely missed by her father, Anthony Jackson; her aunt and uncle, Candace and Jeffrey Thomas, who loved her as their second daughter; her cousins, Ronnell (Kandis) Massengill, Nicole (Jalil) Hosey, and Jeffrey Thomas, Jr., who were like her siblings, “Grandma” Vonceil Massengill and many, many more extended family and friends who will carry her memory forever in their hearts.

As we grieve, we choose to seek purpose in our pain and honor Journey, Jalani, and Harmoni. We will forever remember their smiles, their laughter, and the love we shared. They will live on in our hearts, and together through our sorrow, we will find strength.
